Free Instagram QR Code Generator

Handles are easy to misspell and easy to forget, and that is the gap an Instagram QR code fills: one scan opens your profile, a Reel, or a post. Paste your link above and download the PNG for a poster, a counter, or a shop window.

How to make your QR code

  1. Open Instagram, go to your profile, tap Share, and copy the link. For a single Reel or post, open it and copy its link instead.
  2. Paste it into the box above.
  3. Click Generate and look over the code that appears.
  4. Click Download PNG to save the image.
  5. Show the code on a computer screen and scan it with your phone, or print a test copy and scan that, to make sure it opens the right page.

Profile link or a single Reel?

A profile link is the safe default for anything that will hang around for months. Whatever you post next week, the code still opens your latest work.

A link to one Reel or post suits a short campaign, like a poster for a launch weekend. Since a printed code cannot be edited, deleting that post later leaves it pointing at a dead page.

Putting the code where followers are made

People scan when they know what they will get. Print a short line next to the code, such as "Scan to see our latest Reels" or "Scan for behind-the-scenes photos," instead of leaving a bare square.

Place it at eye level at the moment someone has time to pull out a phone: by the register, on a table, at the end of a flyer, or on the back of a business card. Leave a clear white margin around it and size it for the distance: a code needs about one tenth of the scanning distance, so around 6 cm (2.4 in) at arm's length and 10 cm (4 in) across a table.

Three mistakes that cost followers

First, a private account. Anyone who scans will land on a locked profile and have to wait for approval, and some will give up. Switch to a public account before you print.

Second, guessing what works. This tool does not count scans, so ask new followers how they found you, or check whether your follower count jumps after you put the code up somewhere new.

Third, a busy background. Never lay the square over a photo or a pattern. Plain white behind it scans more reliably, and a calm layout makes the code look like an invitation instead of clutter.

Frequently asked questions

Which Instagram link should I use for a QR code?

For your profile, tap Share on it and copy the link, or use instagram.com followed by your handle. For a Reel or post, open it and copy its own link. The profile link is the better pick for anything that stays up for months.

Will my Instagram QR code ever expire?

The code itself does not expire and keeps pointing at the same address for as long as that page stays online. It stops being useful if the account is deleted or switched to private.

Can people scan the code if they do not have Instagram?

The phone camera needs nothing extra. What happens next depends on Instagram: someone without the app is usually taken to the profile in their browser, and Instagram may ask them to log in to see everything. Print your handle in text beside the code as a backup.

Can I use the QR code on a business card?

Yes. Download the PNG and drop it into your card design. A card is held close, so it is the one place a code can shrink to about 2 cm (0.8 in), and the 400 by 400 pixel file is more than enough at that size. For anything bigger, the size guide has the numbers.
